Frugal Fairhope Reporters

| May 27, 2010

We were having some fun on the Frugal Fairhope Facebook page last week. We were joking around about the Frugal Fairhope Reporters. A Frugal Fairhope Reporter is someone that helps us keep an eye on deals. After all we can’t be everywhere all the time, not that we don’t try. Frugal Fairhope Reporters are very giving and skilled people. A Frugal Fairhope Reporter can be found across the country and not just in Fairhope. Sometimes, like last week, this could result in getting cash or coupons for your reports.

Do you have what it takes to be a Frugal Fairhope Reporter? Send us an email of any deals you see in the area, your report could make the cut and have your deal posted on Frugal Fairhope! If you have been reading Frugal Fairhope for a while you know that we respect your privacy, probably more than you do :-) , so we will not disclose your name. Here is a report on a Target deal on how a Frugal Fairhope Reporter received free wipes.

Frugal Fairhope Reporter J… reporting a deal from Target:

“I used two of the $2 off one manufacturer Huggies coupon to purchase two boxes of wipes. They were priced $2.39, so after my coupons…they were $.39 each and Target’s “Catalina” machine printed out a Target coupon for $1 off a 64 count or larger box of wipes. I did this today and yesterday and got the Target coupon each time. I used yesterday’s coupon stacked with another $2 off manufacturer coupon to get a free box of wipes at Publix…better deal if you stack at Target to get the overage…but either way free wipes!”

While we would love to compensate all Frugal Fairhope Reporters, that is not always possible since we come out of pocket on most things given away on Frugal Fairhope. For giveaways on our site, we will disclose if the giveaways are from a business, so if you don’t see that stated on a giveaway it comes directly from our pocket book.

If you are a business that has content that is appropriate to Frugal Fairhope readers, please feel free to contact us at Frances  @Frugal Fairhope.com (no spaces). At This Time All Approved Local Third Party Giveaways to our readers are Free Advertising to the business and Frugal Fairhope does not charge or ask for anything in return. Email us for details.

Spark Your Creativity

Do you have craft time with your family?

At this very early age, our Little One loves to read books, draw, and color at every opportunity. We hope this will continue on for years to come. We keep coloring books and crayons in the car, around the house, and even take them on our shopping trips.

We were recently contacted by the Out of Office blog from FedEx. They have teamed up with Mom Central and sent us a Personalized Bookmark kit so we could make our own bookmarks. The kit came with crayons, stickers, four bookmark templates and ribbons. We wish you could have heard the squeal from The Little One when we brought out the butterfly stickers.  FUN!

After we cut out the bookmark template we let the The Little One go at it with stickers (butterfly of course) and crayons. Thirty minutes later this is what we ended up with.

Not Picasso but we were thrilled with the creativity and the some what straight lines! After craft time is over we made a game out of picking up the stray butterflies.

With summer reading programs, everyone is going to need a bookmarker. Check out all the summer craft ideas from the Out of Office blog.

We wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of FedEx Office and received the items necessary to facilitate our  review. In addition, Mom Central will be sending us a gift card to thank us for taking the time to participate. Once we have received this gift card, we will be giving this away to one of our readers.

Opinions expressed on Frugal Fairhope are always our own.

Thank you Mom Central and FedEx Office!

What is it like to shop Pensacola Publix?

| May 13, 2010

Thanks to Reader M… for helping us put this together. Have you ever wondered about the coupon rules at the Pensacola Publix stores?

Pensacola stores are a true B1G1 stores. The B1G1 sales ring up like this:

Item A $2
Item A $2
-$2 Item A
Final Price: $2 (you have to buy TWO in B1G1 deals)

Use your B1G1 coupons at the Pensacola Publix stores and truly get 2 for free, like we do at Winn-Dixie.

Competitors do seem to vary among the various stores. The Bellview Plaze store will take the following:

  • Target
  • Winn Dixie
  • Walgreen’s Register Rewards (may only be allowed one per transaction, check with manager at store)
  • CVS $X off $XX
  • CVS kisok coupons

If you use any stores Glove Box coupons ($X off $XX) this amount is deducted after all other coupons. The Fairhope Publix store takes the Glove Box coupons before all other coupons.

Here is what you can not use in the Pensacola stores:

  • Rite Aid – There are no stores in Florida
  • KMART coupons (Mobile Hwy store)
  • Dollar Store coupons (Mobile Hwy store)
  • CVS ECBs

We loving doing Free Frugal Fairhope Coupon Workshops in Florida, it gives us an opportunity to shop at several Publix stores on our way home. Here is a Frances Frugal Fairhope Tip (FFF Tip): If you follow Hwy 90 from Milton to Robertsdale you will hit 3 Publix stores on the way.

  • Santa Rosa Commons 4739 Hwy 90, Pace
  • University Town Center 9251 University Parkway, Pensacola
  • Publix at Nine Mile 2180 W Nine Mile Road, Pensacola

If you go South from the University Town Center store you will find these two stores on the same road (9th and Mobile Hwy)

  • 5055 N 9th Avenue, Pensacola
  • Bellview Plaza 5998 Mobile Hwy

Going further south across the water there is another store, the Gulf Breeze store  (tear pad and blinkie heaven).

As you can see from the map above, you could hit five stores and still be heading back to Baldwin county.

  1. Santa Rosa Commons
  2. University Town Center
  3. 5055 N 9th Avenue
  4. Bellview Plaza
  5. Publix at Nine Mile
