Now that the Christmas dust has settled, hours of shopping and wrapping gifts resulted in a 5 minute flurry of “thank you” and “oh” and silent “oh nos”, the wrapping paper has been torn to shreds and stuffed into garbage bags, guests have returned home, your home needs a complete cleaning overall (didn’t we just do that a couple days ago?), piles of gifts litter your home with no place to go; now is the time to think about returning some of those gifts. Don’t wait too long, some stores have a very small window of return.
Here are some of the common store return policies:
Amazon 
- Without a receipt you may be given:
- An even exchange.
- A Kohl’s Merchandise Credit, good for the return value of the item. Offered at any Kohl’s.
- A credit to your Kohl’s Charge Card, if your items were purchased on your Kohl’s Charge.
- A corporate-issued refund.
- With a receipt you may be given*:
- A cash or credit refund, based on the original method of payment.
- An even exchange.
- A Kohl’s Merchandise Credit, good at any Kohl’s.
- A corporate-issued refund.
Old Navy offers a merchandise exchange or a gift card for the original price of the gift, as stated in the gift reciept. Alternately, unused gift cards can be returned for a refund to the original form of payment with an original sales receipt or online invoice. Items must be returned within 45 days from the date of purchase.
Target Items must be returned within 90 days of the day of purchase and must be in new and unused condition and contain all original packaging and accessories. Music, movies, video games, software and collectibles cannot be returned if opened. GiftCards, prepaid cell phones, prepaid cards (including music, game and phone cards), or other items that carry financial value cannot be returned.
Walmart Walmart’s No Receipt policy applies to items returned in a store only. You have the option of a cash refund (for purchases under $25), a Gift Card for the amount of the purchase (for purchases over $25) or an even exchange for the product. We also follow any manufacturer’s warranties. You can make up to three No Receipt returns within a 45 day period.
Babies R Us & Toys R Us offer store credit only. Gift Returns made at any of our Toys”R”Us or Babies”R”Us store locations will receive a merchandise credit when accompanied by a gift receipt or online packing slip.
Gift Cards If you have gift cards that you want to sell, trade or buy, we love using Plastic Jungle for our gift cards.
Donation to your local charity. Make sure you get a receipt for your taxes (we will be thinking of that very soon).
