$35 CVS Groceries for $.45

If you have been following Frugal Fairhope for years now you may have guessed that seems like a long time since we have stockpiled our families deodorant. The bottom of the box was visible so it was time to start watching for the deals. Typically it takes us several weeks to build up a stockpile but this week at CVS was good enough for us to get it all done in two shopping trips. Don’t worry we left plenty on the shelf at both stores and we use only one card (limit 2 deals per card)!  We even left a 2pk for $2.99 that is eligible for the ECBs deal for that lucky reader that gets there first.

There have been some reports that the B1G1 Speed Stick coupon is taking off $3.99 (regular price) instead of $1.99 (sales price). This is not happening in our area but there are reports that there are CVS stores in Pensacola where this deal got a lot better.

Recently there was a news report on NPR about kicking habits. Their theory was the only way to change any habit is to stop the routine. The example they used was in Vietnam, 20% of the men were addicted to heroin. They made these men stay in Vietnam until they “dried out”. After these men returned to the states they followed up and found that 95% of the men who were addicted, never returned to drugs after returning to the states. That is amazing!

“Once a behavior had been repeated a lot, especially if the person does it in the same setting, you can successfully change what people want to do. But if they’ve done it enough, their behavior doesn’t follow their intentions,”

“For a smoker the view of the entrance to their office building — which is a place that they go to smoke all the time — becomes a powerful mental cue to go and perform that behavior,”

“We think of ourselves as controlling our behavior, willing our actions into being, but it’s not that simple. It’s as if over time, we leave parts of ourselves all around us, which in turn, come to shape who we are.”

Here are some tips to kick it.

• Try using candy or gum in the car to break the habit of driving while smoking. Have your car cleaned or clean it with vinegar and water to get the smoke out (wipe down everything).

• Do you have another door you can enter and leave your house? Remove the chairs where you have been smoking (if applicable).

• Instead of a smoke break at lunch, go for a short walk. Stay away from the kitchen!

• Do not use the same gas station/store where you have previously bought cigarettes. Go out of your way to use a less familiar store.

CVS/pharmacy Coupon Policy
The use of ExtraBucks®, CVS/pharmacy and third-party manufacturer coupons is accepted in our retail stores in accordance with the following guidelines.
General guidelines to further understand the application of CVS/pharmacy coupons (ExtraBucks and ExtraCare® Coupons) and third-party manufacturer coupons:

• CVS/pharmacy does not accept expired coupons.
• Coupons and their face value cannot be exchanged for cash or gift cards.
• Competitor coupons are not accepted at CVS/pharmacy.
• CVS/pharmacy does not accept coupons for items not carried in our stores.
• CVS/pharmacy does not currently accept coupon bar code images displayed on a smartphone, iPhone, Droid etc.
• The total value of the coupons may not exceed the value of the transaction. Sales tax must be paid if required by state law.\
• Certain CVS/pharmacy coupons may be subject to state sales tax rules similar to third-party manufacturer coupons and sales tax may be charged on pre-coupon price Third-party manufacturer coupons are coupons issued by a third party and sales tax may be charged on pre-coupon price.

• Language at the bottom of CVS/pharmacy coupons provides specific coupon acceptance rules.
• Any coupon offer not covered in these guidelines will be accepted at the discretion of CVS/pharmacy management.

Sale Items

• CVS/pharmacy will accept manufacturer coupons for an item that is on sale.
• CVS/pharmacy will not accept percent off coupons for sale and promotional items.
• In the event that any item’s price is less than the value of the coupon, CVS/pharmacy will accept the coupon only to the price of the item. CVS/pharmacy does not provide cash back in exchange for any coupons.

Multiple Coupons

• CVS/pharmacy accepts one third-party manufacturer coupon and applicable CVS/pharmacy coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item, unless prohibited by either coupon offer.
• The number of third-party manufacturer coupons used in a transaction may not exceed the number of items in the transaction.
• The coupon amount will be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied. (For example, a $5.00 coupon for a $4.99 item will result in a $4.99 coupon value).
• CVS/pharmacy accepts multiple identical coupons for multiple qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other customers, unless a limit is specified. Management reserves the right to limit the quantity of items purchased.
