Frances Frugal Fairhope Tip – Starting Your Stockpile

We have mentioned in our Free Frugal Fairhope Coupon Workshops that the value of stockpiling is not just in the savings but also in time saving. This week’s Walgreen’s deal gives us a great opportunity to give you an example of how to start building your stockpile. A lot of you may work full time and may believe that you don’t have time to run to more than one store a week. As we have mentioned before, if you will take a little time (we estimate about 3 months) of dedication on building your stockpile you will have everything for a year’s supply of stockpile items. By planning and looking ahead, having these items in your stockpile means you spend less time in the grocery store purchasing these items and you also cut down the amount of grocery store trips you make in a month. Instead of going to the grocery store once maybe twice a week, imagine if you only had to go to the grocery store once a month! This is possible if you start building your stockpile.

Here is a list of the items we recommend for your stockpile:

  • Paper Products (Bath Tissue, Paper Towels)
  • Dishwasher Detergent & Dish & Hand Soap
  • Cleaning Products
  • Personal Care Products
  • Laundry Soap
  • Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Floss, & Mouthwash
  • Shampoo, Conditioner, and Styling Products
  • Frozen & Canned Food
  • Pet food
  • Medication (watch expiration dates)

See below for the example of how to start your stockpile. We have broken this down into four transactions. Using this example, you could do more and more of these transactions and keep rolling the Register Rewards to buy more products that will give you even more register rewards. The objective is to come out of pocket the cheapest way possible, if not free. We are using this as a “simple” example to show you how easy it can be. There are other freebies this week that you could add to these transactions to pay even less out of pocket:

Transaction #1
Thermacare trial size single pack (neck & arm) $2.49 Get $2.49 RRs
-$1 printable
Out of Pocket: $1.49
Receive $2.49 in Register Rewards

Transaction #2

2 Russell Stover Valentine Candy $.39 (filler)
-$1 printable
-Use $2.49 Register Reward from Transaction #1
Out of Pocket: $.28
Receive $2 in Register Rewards

Transaction #3
Thermacare trial size single pack (neck & arm) $2.49 Get $2.49 RRs
2 Russell Stover Valentine Candy $.39 (filler)
-$1 printable
-Use $2 Register Reward from Transaction #2
Out of Pocket: $.27
Receive $2.49 in Register Rewards

Transaction #4
Colgate Max Fresh or Max White Toothpaste $2.99 Get $2 RRs
2 Russell Stover Valentine Candy $.39 (filler)
-$1 printable
-Use $2.49 Register Reward from Transaction #3
Out of Pocket: $.28
Receive $2 in Register Rewards

We would continue to roll the Register Rewards as many times as we could this week. Looking at the 4 transactions, there are 2 Colgate, 4 candies, and 2 Thermacare products for a total out of pocket of $2.32, and there is a $2 in Register Rewards left over so the final price of all of this is $.32.

Now you are probably thinking how I am going to do 4 transactions in one visit. You don’t have too; do one or two a day this week. Get your spouse to transactions on the way home from work to build your stockpile even faster.

Keep in mind that a Colgate Register Reward will not print after the transaction if you purchase it with a Colgate Register Reward. You will need to use the Thermacare Register Reward to pay for the Colgate and vice versa.
