The formula companies will start sending you checks before and after your delivery. Some of the checks you can use some you won’t use. We donate the ones we don’t use to our church charity. Check the waiting rooms of your pediatrician’s office. They may have coupon tear pads. Ask for samples at the hospital and at the pediatrician office. Enfamil has a nice black bag that is stocked with formula and other samples. You will find this at the hospitals, don’t be afraid to ask. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, an average American family will spend $184,000 on raising a baby (not including college costs). So ask for those samples. We ended up leaving the hospital with three cases of Enfamil, just for asking. Don’t be a brand snob. We used all our samples and found that our little one’s system worked just fine on the Sam’s Club generic Enfamil. We compared the ingredients and they were pretty much the same. Not only was this $20 cheaper by buying the generic but it was in a larger can. Always consult with your pediatrician. Don’t forget that you can return an opened can of formula. Worse case email or call the company and ask for a refund, you may find that they not only send you a refund but a new brand that your baby maybe able to stomach. Watch for blinkies and tear pads in the baby aisle. Even now, we always look down the baby aisle for blinkies.
