What Did You Say? RRs Won’t Print because of a Coupon?
Have you run across a Walgreen’s store that told you the Register Reward didn’t print because a manufacture or store coupon was used? Don’t laugh we have gotten emails from 4 readers of this in Mobile last week. This falls up there with “you can’t use this coupon because the photo” is for chocolate and you are buying strawberry. Crazy we know but we actually get this one more often than you think.
This was found on page 12 of the current Walgreen’s circular (6/12-6/18).

As you can see Walgreen’s actually advertises that there is a $4 coupon in Sunday’s paper and at the same time advertises that you can get a $3 Register Reward and you will only pay $.99 with the coupon and the Register Reward when you buy the Air Wick Air Freshener Kit.
There is also no mention of the Register Reward not printing if a coupon is used for that same product in the Walgreen’s coupon policy. We attach this page to our Walgreen’s coupon policy that we keep in Bessie (coupon binder) just in case we run into this issue.
What are some of your favorite “crazy coupon words” you have heard from cashiers?

I read the post about RR not printing. I was curious to know if they were using a RR with that purchase? I do know that if you use for example a RR for Cover Girl product and you are buying a different Cover Girl item that offers a RR you will not recieve another RR , because you used a Cover Girl RR as a coupon on your purchase. So it will not print another RR . You can still use man. and store coupons on the purchase butnot a RR from the same company. This is probably something you already know but if not I hope it helps.
Angie,
These were purchases made with cash/debit and not a Register Reward.
Frances
yep happened to me @ the Fairhope Walgreens just last week. However, the manager nor I realized that my purchase was actually less than $30 (I picked up a buy one, get one lower price deodorant) Its the fact that the manager TOLD ME it had to be a $30 purchase BEFORE q’s. Great idea…..I’m attaching that ad and keeping it with their q policy in my binder. Thanks Frances for all the work you do for us frugal followers!
I tried this deal today at walgreens and was told by the manager that because the total came to less than $15 after coupons it did not qualify for the $5 RR. I also called and was told the same thing.
4 Ragu Pasta Sauces $2
Skippy Peanut Butter $2
2 Lipton tea bags green $2.50
-Use 2 $1/2 coupon 5/22 RP (Ragu)
-Use 2 $.50 coupon 5/22 RP (Lipton)
-Receive $5 RRs
Final Price: $1
Erica,
Checking my math the 4 Ragu, Skippy and 2 Lipton = $15.
Couple questions, which Walgreen’s store and confirm you called corporate. Did you show them the circular?
Now it could be possible that they are fixing to change their policy?
OH, now we were told by a reader the other day that she could not get the register rewards to print unless the cashier hit the “total button” after the products, before the coupons. Not sure if this is true?
We will be trying this later as a test.
Frances
Frances,
I went to the store in Fairhope. I did call corporate and she told me the total all together had $15 and that my coupons made the amount go down below that. I did show them the ad which is kinda vague but gives me no reason to think coupons would make diffidence. Maybe they are changing their policy although it doesn’t make much sense if the stores get reimbursed for coupons they wouldn’t be losing out at all.
I was still happy with my free Bayer, .99 airwick freshener, and some candy bars for .10
Thanks so much for your help!!
Erica,
We just did this same exact deal and the $5 RR printed. Can you send me a photo of your receipt to make sure they match?
